Clary sage, with its greenish white spikes tinged with purple flowers, it is a native of southern Europe. Clary sage derives its name from the Latin clears, meaning “clear” and during the Middle Ages, it was famous for its ability to clear eye problems. During that same time, it was widely used for female complaints, kidney/digestive/skin disorders, inflammation, sore throats, and wounds. Clary sage is often referred to as being estrogenic and best to avoid in pregnancy. Steam distillation of the flowering tops and leaves of clary sage yields a colourless or pale yellowish green oil.

It is equally effective in treating dandruff, dry skin, and dry hair. Use as a scalp massage, clary sage oil reputedly encourages hair growth and minimises hair loss.

Dilution Ratio: 50-50
- 1 part essential oil with 1 part of carrier oil. For age 0-1, use 1 drop of essential oil to 8-10 drop of carrier oil. For age 2-6, use 1 drop of essential oil to 2-4 drops of carrier oil. For age 7 and above, use 1 drop of essential oil to 1 drop of carrier oil.
Apply 2-4 drops on area of concern, feet, ankles. wrists or on lower backing during PMS

Avoid alcohol when using clary sage as it can exaggerate the effects of alcohol and intensify drunkenness and hangover.
